]]> Cart66 has full support for the pricing fields in Gravity Forms. This means you can use Gravity Forms to design your product order form including unlimited product options. You can even have product options that change the price of the product. Here is how it works.

Create The Gravity Form

Click on the “New Form” link to create a new Gravity Forms form and design the form however you’d like. If you want Gravity Forms to control the pricing of the product, use the “Pricing Fields” that Gravity Forms provides.

Tips For Using The Gravity Forms Pricing Fields:

  • Use the “Product” field type to set the base price for your product
  • Use the “Option” field type to add options which may affect the product price
  • It is best to let Cart66 handle shipping costs

Create The Cart66 Product

Once you have completed designing your product order form in Gravity Forms, navigate to the Cart66 Products panel in your WordPress admin to create the Cart66 product.

Attach The Gravity Form To The Cart66 Product

Select the Gravity Form that you want to attach to the Cart66 product from the “Attach Gravity Form” drop down. This will tell Cart66 to render the Gravity Form as the product order form rather than the standard Add To Cart button.

Gravity Forms Pricing

If you designed your Gravity Form to have pricing information for the product and product options select “Yes” for the Gravity Forms pricing drop down. This tells Cart66 to use the pricing information in Gravity Forms rather than the standard Cart66 pricing fields. Note that you cannot use BOTH Cart66 pricing AND Gravity Forms pricing for the same product at the same time.

Set The Quantity Field

If one of the fields in your Gravity Form allows the buyer to set the quantity for the product, let Cart66 know which field specifies the quantity. This will let the buyer order multiple units of your product from the product order form.

Once you have finished configuring the Cart66 product and attaching the Gravity Form to that product, click “Save” to save your product information in Cart66.

Navigate in your WordPress admin to the page or post where you want this product to appear and place the Add To Cart shortcode on the page.

1. Install Cart66

You can install Cart66 two different ways.

For the first method, click on the “Add New” link by hovering your cursor over the Plugins menu option in the WordPress backend.

After loading the page to add a new plugin, select the “Upload” link at the top of the page.  Select “Choose File” and navigate to the downloaded .zip file of Cart66.  Click “Install Now”.

If all goes well, the zip file will be automatically unzipped to your plugins directory and you will receive a notification letting you know.  Click on the “Activate Plugin” link and you will be returned to the main Plugins page of your site.

A successful activation will be noted by a message at the top of the page.

The second method requires FTP access to your site.  Start by uncompressing the .zip file that you downloaded and then navigate to your WordPress plugins directory.  Upload the folder directly to your plugins directory.

Navigate to your WordPress dashboard and click on the “Installed Plugins” link by hovering your cursor over the Plugins menu option.

Select “Activate” underneath the Cart66 Professional title to activate the plugin.  Activation will refresh the plugins page.

A successful activation will be noted by a message at the top of the page.

2. Activate Using Your Order Number

In order to use Cart66, you will need to “Activate” the plugin using the Oder Number you received when you purchased the plugin.

Navigate to the Cart66 Settings page by clicking on the “Settings” link by hovering your cursor over the Cart66 menu option.

You will see a message at the top of your page letting you know that this is not a registered copy of Cart66.  Directly underneath it is the form to enter and save your order number.

Enter the order number you received on your receipt when you purchased Cart66 and click save.  A successful activation will show the following dialog box:

3. Update Main Cart66 Settings

Scroll down on the settings page to the “Main Settings” section.  In this section you can select your home country, whether or not you want to ship internationally, which countries you want to ship to, which credit cards you want to accept, and other options.  Make the necessary changes and click Save.

NOTE: There are many other sections on the settings page that you may require in order to get your store up and running.  This section just covers the basics so that you can begin completing transactions.  Please take time to go back through and check out each of the sections to see if you can utilize these options for your store.

4. Add Your Payment Gateway Information

Scroll down to the payment gateway sections.  These consist of the “Mijireh Settings”, the “PayPal Settings” and the “Payment Gateway” Settings.

We recommend that you use Mijireh Checkout to process your transactions.  Mijireh provides a PCI Compliant solution to processing credit cards and combined with it’s Page Slurp technology, the checkout process is seamless and efficient.  If you do plan to use Mijireh, all you need to do is add in your Mijireh Access Key in the form and click save.

If you plan to use PayPal Standard, all you need to do is add in the email address associated with your PayPal account, the “Shopping URL” and the “Return URL”. If you plan to use PayPal Express or PayPal Pro, you will need to fill in the rest of the section details.  You can use the PayPal Sandbox option to run test transactions through your Sandbox account before going live.

If you plan to use any other supported gateway, you will need to scroll down to the “Payment Gateway Settings” section.  Select the payment gateway that you wish to use, fill out the necessary credentials and click save.

5. Update Email Receipt Settings

By default, Cart66 sends an email receipt to your customers after a transaction is complete.  Before we complete our first transaction, we need to add in the necessary information for the email header. Scroll down to the “Email Receipt” section and fill in the details.  You will need to provide a from name, from email and email subject.  Optionally, you can provide an intro message that will be displayed at the top of the email as well as a “copy to” email address.  You can use this to CC yourself on all email receipts or send it to an optional fulfillment company.

6. Update Your Checkout Shortcode (optional)

Cart66 defaults to using the Mijireh Checkout process when you first install it.  If you want to use an alternative gateway, you will need to change the shortcode on the checkout page to match the gateway you are using.

Place your Cursor over the Cart66 icon in the admin bar at the top of your dashboard, then place it over the menu item “Store Pages” and then click the “Checkout” option.

You will need to update the shortcode that is in the editor itself.  This shortcode defaults to [checkout_mijireh].

You can find all the available shortcodes by clicking on the Cart66 icon in the Upload/Insert section.  This will bring up a dialog box where you can select the Shortcodes tab. Click on the appropriate checkout shortcode and it will automatically add it to the page. NOTE: If you want to use multiple payment gateways, you can add multiple shortcodes to this page.

7. Slurp Checkout Page (optional)

If you are using the Mijireh Checkout process, you will need to slurp a checkout page design to the Mijireh Servers.  You can design the checkout page however you like, and then upload a copy of it to the site to use as your checkout page.  Cart66 installs a page that you can use as this template.  Just navigate to the pages tab by hovering your cursor over the WordPress Pages menu option and clicking “All Pages”.

Click “Edit” Under the “Mijireh Secure Checkout” page title.  This page is installed by default alongside all the other Cart66 store pages.

You can edit this page as much as you like.  The important thing is that you leave the {{mj-checkout-form}} shortcode on the page.  This is what Mijireh uses to put in the dynamic content for the checkout process.  Once your page is how you like it, click on the “Slurp This Page” button in the Mijireh meta box. NOTE: This page is set to private by default.  The slurp process will set it to public and then back to private during the slurp process.  You don’t need to make that change at all.

You will be able to watch the slurp process in action, and see a notification when it is finished.

8. Create A Product

In order to allow customers to buy our products, we need to first create them!  Start by clicking on the “Products” option in the Cart66 Menu.

Start by filling out the product details.  All that is required is Product Name, Item Number and Price.  You can fill out extra details as necessary include variations and digital product options if you like as well.

Once you have saved your product, it will appear in the products list below the Add/Edit form.

9. Insert Product Shortcode On A Product Page

After creating our product, we need to add the product shortcode to our products page.  You can create a new page to hold your products or you can use the default “Store” page that is installed with Cart66. To use the default store page, navigate to the WordPress Pages section and click “Edit” on the “Store” page.  Once there, click on the Cart66 icon in the Upload/Insert section. Select the options that will apply to your product and then select “Insert Shortcode”.

The shortcode will be added to the page with all the options included.  You can add as many products as you want to a page.

Save your page and you should be good to go!

10. Complete A Transaction

Once you have completed all the previous steps with all the necessary information, you should be able to process a transaction.  Navigate to your products page and add the item to the cart.

Once the item has been added to the cart, you can then click the Checkout button to proceed to the checkout form.

The checkout page will vary based on the gateway you are using.  Once you have filled out the necessary shipping and billing information, you will be redirected back to the receipt page for a successful transaction.

]]> Yesterday we had an embarrassing reminder from Alex King concerning a vulnerability in Cart66 that he pointed out a long time ago. He went to check if the vulnerability was resolved and when he realized it was not resolved he let us know. So what happened and why did it take so long to get a fix for this problem?

What happened?

Essentially what happened was that Alex submitted a support ticket to us describing a vulnerability and his support ticket was mistakenly left in a “Pending” state in our support ticket system. Pending tickets mean that we are waiting on additional information from the customer in order to resolve an issue. So this problem went unresolved for quite some time.

What are we going to do about it?

Yesterday Alex reminded us that this issue had been overlooked. This morning we released an update to Cart66 that resolves the problem. As embarrassing as this has been, it has helped us improve our support system. We have updated our support ticket system so that we can tag all tickets that have anything to do with security or vulnerabilities as “security” tickets. This will provide a quick and comprehensive way to see if there are any tickets concerning security. Now, even if a ticket is “pending” it won’t get overlooked. We will never “solve” a security ticket unless we have actually coded in a fix for the problem.

Often times people resolve their own issues and forget to let us know that they no longer need help. This results in “pending” tickets that are actually “solved” because the person solved their own problem and no longer needs help. Security tickets, however, can’t be treated that way. Tagging all security tickets will keep things like what happened with Alex’s ticket from happening again.

So what was the vulnerability?

The vulnerability was that you could potentially add products to the shopping cart that had invalid product options. This would result in customers being able to purchase products with unintended product options such as more than one option from the same option group. If the product option changed the price of the product, this could result in products with incorrect pricing being added to the cart.

The vulnerability had nothing to do with customers’ billing information or gaining access to any of the private information in your store or WordPress site.

How did we fix the problem?

When a product is added to the cart, each product option that is selected is compared against the product options defined for the product. Server side validation will only allow one option per option group to be selected and that option has to be an exact match for one of the defined options. If an invalid option is detected, the item will not be added to the shopping cart.

The update is available from the plugin updater in your WordPress site as well as in the downloads section of our website.

The apology

Everyone on the Cart66 team is embarrassed that this has happened and we are all very sorry that a serious issue like this one slipped through the cracks. I, Lee Blue, as the owner of Reality66, take responsibility for the oversight. Even though I’m not personally working with support tickets very often it is ultimately my responsibility to make sure things like this don’t happen. I have met with each member of our support team and explained that security tickets are always top priority and we have established new practices to prevent issues like this from happening again. Everyone on our team takes their job seriously. We are constantly fixing problems and adding new features. We know that people, including ourselves, run businesses with Cart66. We will continue to do the best we can to provide a stable, secure, and innovative platform for ecommerce.

  3. Slurp Your Checkout Page

    One of the coolest things about Mijireh is how easy it is to get your design on their system. In your WordPress site, go to the Mijireh Secure Checkout page. Design it however you’d like with images and copy or even use a custom page template if you want. When you’re happy with the design, click the “Slurp This Page” button.

    Once you have slurped your page, check it out by clicking the “Preview Checkout Page” button.

A Couple Ecommerce Tips

Page Title


If you want to change the title of you secure Mijireh checkout page, just change it in WordPress and then slurp the page.

Private Page

Since you do not want the Mijireh Secure Checkout page to be directly accessed on your WordPress site, keep the page set to “private” in your WordPress admin panel.

Want To Slurp A Different Page?

You can move or rename the Mijireh Secure Checkout page or you can Slurp any page you want. Just make sure the page includes the token

Once the page inlcudes the above token and is saved, you will see the Page Slurp button appear for that page.

My Page Won’t Slurp From Inside The WordPress Admin

There are some uncommon PHP configurations that prevent Page Slurp from working within the Cart66 plugin. In the event that you get an error when you try to Slurp a page, you can log into your Mijireh account to trigger the Slurp as follows:

  1. Log into your Mijireh account at https://secure.mijireh.com
  2. Navigate to Settings -> Checkout Page
  3. Enter the public URL to the page you want to slurp. Note that the page must be publicly accessible during the Slurp, otherwise Mijireh won’t be able to reach the page.
  4. Click the “Slurp It” button.

]]> Cart66 1.3 comes with a couple new built-in dashboard widgets to help you manage your store.

1. Cart66 Recent Orders Widget
This widget is designed to give you a basic overview of the most recent orders that have come in through your online store.  This helps you see order information, status, delivery options, order totals and more.

2. Cart66 Statistics
This widget gives you statistics of your store revenue.  This will give you the orders for the current day, totals for the month, projected income for the month, average daily sales for the last 6 months and more.

RECENT ORDER WIDGET

The recent orders widget will be enabled default when you install Cart66 1.3.  If you have no orders in your system, the widget will look like this:

As you begin to have orders in your system, the widget will automatically show the 10 most recent orders in the pane.

The Recent Orders widget is customizable and allows you to display Order Numbers, Delivery Method, and Status as well as change the number of orders shown. To configure, click on the “Configure” link in the upper right hand corner of the widget. (This is invisible until the cursor hovers over it)

STATISTICS WIDGET

The recent orders widget will be enabled default when you install Cart66 1.3. The statistics widget has 5 main screens with statistics for your Cart66 online store:

Description: Choose the area of the cart to apply the discount. If there are eligible products set, the discount will only apply to them.

Amount: *Required
Description: Set the amount of the promotion. Depending on the type of promotion, either a dollar amount or a percentage.
Example: $5.00, $15.21, 37%

Minimum order:
Description: Set a minimum cart total required for promotion eligibility.

Minimum and Maximum Quantities
Description: Set the minimum and maximum quantities required for the promotion to apply. A value of 0 means unlimited and is the default. Note that if you set more than one eligible product and a minimum quantity, all eligible products in the cart must meet the minimum quantity requirement.

Date range:
Description: Set a starting and ending point for the promotion. Either option may be used independently to create a window of eligibility for the promotion.

Maximum Redemptions:
Description: Set a maximum number of times a promotion may be used.

Eligible Products:
Description: Set products which are required for eligibility of promotion. If any of the eligible products are in the cart, the promotion will be eligible pending other conditions being met. If the promotion is applied to products, only those products will receive the discount. Simply start typing the product name in the box and Cart66 will automatically suggest valid products.

Enable:
Description: Select if the promotion is enabled for customers

Auto Apply:
Description: Choose if the promotion should be automatically applied to the customer’s cart when all the conditions of eligibility are met

]]> We are giving away a free Cart66 developer’s license to the first person who is willing and able to share their Cart66 experience at this month’s WordPress Meetup in San Francisco CA on 10/24/2011 at 6PM.

If you are interested, you will be asked to give a 15-20 minute demo of your site and talk about how you are using Cart66 for your business. We’ll post and update to this page when the position has been filled.

This demo will need to be given on site and cannot be done remotely

We are also hoping to coordinate a raffle to give away two single site licenses to two lucky winners who attend the meetup.
